Upcoming Fiber Optic Projects

The 2nd Ward office has received notification of upcoming fiber optic cable, conduit, and equipment installation projects throughout the 2nd Ward. These projects are part of ongoing work to improve the speed and reliability of internet connections and internet-supported technology.
​
Below is a list of the locations and approximate time frames for the upcoming projects. Please be aware that these projects may result in short-term street, sidewalk, or alley closures. This list will be updated as my office receives more details, so check back for more information as the approximate time frame for each project approaches.

2020 Q1 Fiber Optic Projects

Ashland & Haddon
Start Date: February 2020

Project: Installation of one communications manhole located approximately 143 feet from the northeast corner of the intersection of N. Ashland Avenue and Haddon Avenue
Impacted Areas: Beginning at the entrance to the alley running north/south on the west side of the 1100 block of N. Ashland Avenue, and ending at the entrance of the alley running north/south on the east side of the 1100 block of N. Ashland Avenue

Impacted Areas: Northeast section of the N. North Park Avenue and North Avenue intersection

Cortland & Kingsbury

Project: Installation of one communications manhole at the north corner of N. Kingsbury Street and W. Cortland Street
Impacted Areas: Magnolia Avenue at the intersection of Kingsbury Street. Kingsbury Street from the northeast corner of the intersection of Kingsbury and Cortland, to the southeast corner of the same intersection.

Impacted Areas: Entrance of the alley running north-south, west of the 2400 block of Southport Avenue

Project: Installation of one communications manhole at the southwest corner of the intersection of Wood Street and Pierce Avenue
Impacted Areas: Beginning in the east/west alley running south of the 1800 block of North Avenue, to the north/south alley running east of Pierce Avenue.

Project: Installation of one communications manhole at the alley apron of the alley running north/south on the west side of the 1500 block of Paulina
Impacted Areas: Beginning at the Pierce Avenue entrance to the north/south alley running west of the 1500 block of Paulina Street, extending east along the sidewalk on the 1700 block of Pierce Avenue, and concluding on the south and east sides of the intersection of Paulina Street and Pierce Avenue.

Bosworth & North Ave

Project: Installation of one communications manhole approximately 130 feet south of the southwest corner of the intersection of Bosworth Avenue and North Avenue
Impacted Areas: Beginning in the east/west alley running north of the 1500 block of North Avenue, extending south along the sidewalk on the 1500 block of Bosworth Avenue and the west side of the intersection of North Avenue and Bosworth Avenue, and ending at the entrance to the east/west alley running south of the 1500 block of North Avenue.

Impacted Areas: Beginning at 1224 W. Willow Street and ending at the north corner of the intersection of Willow Street and Throop Street.

Impacted Areas: Beginning in the north/south alley running west of the 1600 block of Leavitt Street, extending south to the end of the alley, and then east in the alley located north of the 2200 block of North Avenue, ending at the alley apron just south of 1614 N. Leavitt Street.
